What is Yoga?


Yoga is much more than just moving your body into different shape and postures.  The physical (asana) practice is usually where we begin but with time we start to discover the other layers of the yoga practice such as the importance of breath control  (pranayama) and concentration (dharana) as well as other more subtle elements like meditation (Dhyana).

Once a firm grounding in the physical, more tangible part of the practice is established the psychological inquiry and benefits seem to follow naturally.  If you chose to explore deeper into the yoga philosophy you will find there is plenty more to learn and practice.

Yoga Styles


I teach a variety of yoga styles and classes are designed to suit all ages and levels of flexibility. Every pose we explore, from forward bends to back bends, twists and inversions has a modified or advanced option making them accessible and adaptable to each student.

My belief it that yoga is about learning to respect your body whilst daring to challenge yourself to improve your strength and flexibility of body and mind.

With regular practice you will make rapid progress and will soon begin to feel the physical and mental benefits.

Vinyasa Yoga/Dynamic Yoga

A flowing style of yoga linking movement with the breath in a continuous thread.  Moving in this way helps to create an internal heat in the body, which aids the detoxification and cleansing process.

By following the breath in a mindful and controlled way we look to experience meditation in movement

Yoga for all levels

This class is great for people who are new to yoga as well as those looking to deepen their practice.  Like Vinyasa Yoga, the class is dynamic and focuses on moving with the breath.  There is more focus on alignment to ensure students have a solid foundation in the fundamentals of yoga asana, providing them the tools for a strong practice to flourish.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic form of yoga that follows a set sequence of postures. Each posture and sequence helps to inform and teach you skills that facilitate the next.

“Vinyasa” is a breath and movement system, for each movement there is an associated breath count.  Following the movement and direction of the breath is a fundamental part of all yoga style I teach but is the basis of the Ashtanga Yoga method.
